Hackers

I am so frustrated! One of my email accounts has been hacked! Luckily it was the one that I use to subscribe to list serves, but that means everyone on those list serves kept receiving emails from me with pharmaceutical web links in them. Ugh! So I've spent the morning deleting emails, apologizing to angry colleagues, changing passwords on other online accounts, and deleting my yahoo account.

Has anyone else had this happen? Any other actions I need to take?

Luckily this hasn't happened to me, but it sounds horrible! I'm sorry, and I hope you get it worked out soon!

Whoa! That's awful, getting an account hacked! It'd say to change you passwords to something really hard and all!

It happened to me a few months ago and all the people in my address book were getting advertisements for Viagra - including my mother!

It took me about a week to clear everything up - now I only maintain my address book directly on my computer - no longer in my online e-mail accounts. Hackers can't get to my address book that way.

Jenn and Kirthi--it was a pain in the butt! I've now cancelled my yahoo account so I hope that means no more spamming all those people! And, I changed my password on my other email accounts and my online banking

Cheli--Luckily it was an account that I only used for a listserve so no friends, family, or colleagues got it. I didn't even know you could maintain an offline address book
