Sunday Salon: boy it's been a long time

I am not sure when the last Sunday Salon I did was, but this weekend, as I begin Spring Break, it feels like an appropriate time to send out some Sunday Salon vibes.

My life in books:
My reading has been doing better this term. I've gotten back into YA books and that has felt really good. One of my recent favorites is Jesse Andrews' Me and Earl and the Dying Girl.

What's going on in my life:
It is spring break. Can I repeat that? It is spring break! I don't think I have ever needed a week off as much as I need this one.
  • I am in the middle of my third illness of the year (and I usually only have one small cold). I have a nasty cough that is SO annoying. I need sleep and plan on getting 9 hours a night every night this week.
  • I am tired of driving to Westlake (an hour away) multiple times a week to go to my daughter's dance studio. Actually, I like being at the studio and I love supporting my daughter's dancing, but I do not enjoy getting home at 11:00pm then waking up at 5:30 to do it all over again. Let me repeat that I plan on getting 9 hours of sleep each night this week.
We are going on a trip for the second half of the week: first to Napa then to Inverness, California. Inverness is a tiny town (general store, gas station, pizza place and not much else). As a kid, my family co-owned a small cabin in Inverness and I've always wanted to take my daughter there. And we're going! We sold our stake in the cabin in the 1980s so hoped to rent it this week, but it was already rented out. Instead we are staying just down the street. I AM SO EXCITED! Here's a shot of the cabin from the 1970s

My daughter and I will also shop for a fancy dress for her because she is going to go to a friend's quinceanera. She is so excited even though it is quite a way away.

So, basically, I am looking forward to good solid sleep, healthy food, a fun trip, and more good sleep. I hope you have a wonderful week.
