Reaching 2026 Reading Goals

I saw this Book Tag on Anne's blog at Head Full of Books. She got it from Emma at Words and Peace. The creator of the tag is Lost in the Narrative. Apparently, it's ok to tweak the questions.

Are there any books that you started this year that you need to finish?
I don't have any books that I've already started and not finished. I am pretty good about that. If I don't finish a book, it's because I don't plan on finishing it, and it's a DNF. There are books that I haven't started yet that I want to read before the end of the year (see below).

Do you have any holiday books you hope to read before year's end?
I have no holiday books on my radar (yet). I would love good suggestions for a fun holiday romance!

Is there a new release that you’re still waiting for?
I am not good at keeping up with new releases, but one I really want to read is Jin Min Lee's new novel, American Hagwon. It's sitting on my TBR shelf, but I didn't realize it's 642 pages long! I'm also looking forward to John Grisham's new novel The French Illusion (it seems that it's a bit of a departure and is espionage-related).

What are three books you want to read before the end of the year?
  • Holly by Stephen King
  • All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whittaker
  • American Hagwon by Min Jin Lee
Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favorite book of the year?
Maybe American Hagwon by Min Jin Lee? It will need to be good to beat out The Emperor of Gladness by Ocean Vuong.

Goals you created in January you still need to finish up before year's end?
I want to finish the reading challenges that I joined though I fear I will not accomplish that goal. Here are the challenges that I have yet to complete:
  • Alphabet (Author)--6 to go
  • Alphabet (Title)--8 to go
  • Cover Lover--I've done 29 of the 52
  • Literary Escapes--I've read in 27 of the 50 states
Have you already started making reading plans for 2027?
It's October; I haven't quite started thinking about which reading challenges to do yet, but come early November, I certainly will.
