We had a quiet Thanksgiving here with just me and my parents. Since I am vegetarian, I don't go in for the traditional meal so made myself a delicious Moroccan stew (potatoes, lentils, cauliflower, tomatoes, and lots of spices). The day itself was beautiful and I managed to take a couple walks before and after doing some work.

My favorite (very) local Mexican restaurant shut down this week. They had been there for over 30 years and were forced out by the new landlord, which is really sad. One of their daughters was my student long ago, their sons played soccer for my ex, and I loved being able to go in and have the cooks start making my meal before I even ordered. Sigh.

I participated in Thankfully Reading Weekend hosted by Jenn at Jenn's Bookshelves. With the motivation of an official event, I managed to read 3 books so that felt good.

And, it's the end of the month (almost) so here's a look back and forward on my reading. The image above is of the books I planned to read in November. I read 5 of those books, but abandoned the top 2 when I realized I was leaving education. Instead I read 10 other books (3 were children's books). I did not read nearly as much nonfiction this month as I had hoped.

This image shows the books I hope to read in December. I always feel pressured choosing December books because it's the end of the year and I feel like I am "supposed" to finish certain books before a new year begins. I guess that's kind of silly. These books do contribute to some of my reading challenges and they are ones that seemed to leap off the shelves at me when I was choosing them yesterday. I know that January will be filled with reading graphic novels as a judge for the CYBILS.

Here's my challenge update. The image is a link to my challenge page.
