Sunday Salon: July 18, 2021

Deb Nance at Readerbuzz hosts The Sunday Salon.

It has been so wonderful to have my brother, sister-in-law, and youngest niece (age 15) visiting this past week! We talked, laughed, hung out, went for walks, and tonight we are celebrating my birthday a few days early by going to the Public Market (a huge building with a variety of yummy local restaurants) and then having dessert back at home. The added bonus is that one of my sister-in-law's brothers and his wife were in town for the final few days and they joined us for the celebrations. After last year, mid-pandemic with no outside contact, this felt very festive.

I recently got this shirt and have gotten positive comments from strangers on it so it's nice to see support for the truth in teaching. I am most unhappy about the trend of school districts and states around the US who are banning the teaching of racism and equity. It is a dangerous trend! And really, no one is teaching Critical Race Theory in high schools, this is yet another distraction by conservatives.

I am slowly making my way through my July books and hope to finish my proposed stack by the end of the month. With family here and the Olympics coming up on Friday we'll see how much attention I can put to my reading. And I have tons of blog post reading to catch up on... I will get there though!
