Dewey Read-a-Thon!

I am SO looking forward to participating in Dewey's 24-Hour Read-a-Thon again! It was a year ago that I first participated so this will be my third.

Ever since school started at the end of August my reading has been super slowed down. And, I don't really care how many books I read, but I don't like having less time to devote to reading. I really did get spoiled over the summer! But this weekend promises to give me my fill of reading time once I take my daughter to her dad's house. Don't get me wrong, I love having her here with me more than anything, but it is quite convenient that she'll be at his house during the read-a-thon.

I don't have specific books in mind yet but I do need to read Humminbirds by Joshua Gaylord since I am posting a review of it on Tuesday for a book tour. In addition I hope to read some good YA and maybe even get started on Mornings in Jenin. However, I don't want to tie myself down to any particular set of books. I plan to bring home a whole bunch of YA from my school library so that I can read whatever strikes me as interesting at the time.

I find it's easier to read when I don't plan the books I want to read. But at the same time, I like to read a couple of pages of each book to know which ones may bog me down and which ones will be an easy sail. Great to see you doing the readathon too! The community spirit can be really inspiring!

I think the readathon is especially exciting when you haven't had much time for reading. Have fun!

I will be interested in reading your review of Hummingbirds, as I have a copy of it waiting to be read. I am super excited for the read-a-thon!

Aths--great idea to gauge which books will work best at the moment. I agree, the community spirit is really fun during the read-a-thon

Shelley--I am hoping to kick start my reading again!

Stephanie--Hummingbirds is one I keep picking up, reading a couple pages, then putting down. I am not sure why.

Mrs. DeRaps--Me too! I love doing the mini-challenges, reading what others are reading, etc. "See you Saturday"
