Sunday Salon

Work:
Not much to report, which I guess is good since it's nearing the end of July and I feel like school is inching closer and closer. I have a HUGE to do list of things I wanted to accomplish this summer for work and it just isn't all getting done. Will I ever realize that I can't do it all? Probably not.

Life/Family:
I am not doing a very good job of exercising this summer. I had good intentions: walk a few times a week. Instead I sit on the couch reading books, sit at my computer eyes glued to my Google RSS Reader, sit in the car driving my daughter to various camps, and walk the dog. It just isn't enough. Ugh. I am also sick of feeling guilty about it.

Books/Reading:
I've read so many good books lately (a bunch of 5 out of 5s!). What a great feeling! However, due to my Birthday (and thank you for the nice wishes) I have even more books staring me in the face! I have also done something a bit uncharacteristic for me: I've taken on 2 book tours and said yes to two publishers about books they'd like me to review. AND the Middle East Reading Challenge starts soon. It's all very exciting and fun and interesting though. I just need to take a deep breath....

I just saw your blog at another site and thought I would check it out. I am also a media specialist and share your guilt this summer. LOL
I had a lot of things I wanted to do, but so far I am too interested in reading anything I can and lounging. Isn't that sick? Sometimes I leave the house, but I was so burnt out from school, I needed to chill. Enjoy your reading. Sympathizing in CT. :)

I really love how you have set up your Sunday Salon post. Love the subtitles for sure!

And also, oh my gosh, I can't believe that school is starting again so soon. I have no idea what I did with my summer off. (Oh wait, yes I do. I read, traveled, hung out with friends, played on the computer...lol a bunch of nothing!) I'm not trying to motivate myself to do some school planning.

Hi Helen!
Happy Belated Birthday!! I hope all those 5 out of 5 books are in your posts this week! I need new reading material! :-)

As for your exercising? When the weather gets a little more tolerable in New England, you'll be able to walk, walk, walk. Now it's just too hot! :-)

Have a great week!

I'm right there with you on the lack of exercise and good intentions. It's so easy to get distracted by life.

Good luck with your book tours, reviews and the challenge! It must be something in the air because I've said yes to more ARCs than usual lately too.

Wisteria--Another Teacher Librarian! I'll go check out your site right now! You're in Connecticut; I attended Connecticut College.

Christina--Summers are so long and I enjoy them so much, but as August approaches it feels like it's going by so quickly. Of course, most workers get a couple weeks vacation a year so I definitely appreciate my school holidays!

Suzanne--I live in Southern California so have no excuse of hot weather for not exercising. Yesterday I thought about 15 minutes of exercise for every hour on the computer. We'll see if I actually do it

Alyce--What do we do if we don't like a book from a tour? I guess I still have to finish it, don't I?

What's up with the to-do lists that always creep up on us towards the end of the holidays/vacations? I always have that, even in spite of well-intentioned plans. :( Hope you get through them.

Aths--Not only do my to-do lists creep up on me, but they grow when I am not looking!
