Book Heaven

Those of you in the UK probably already know all about this, but most US book lovers may not. I am talking about a town where books rule: Hay-on-Wye (on the Welsh/English border).

Here's a fun video about searching for books in Hay-on-Wye (it's only 3 minutes long)

You can see Hay-on-Wye; look at that green, beautiful countryside!

I've only been to Hay-n-Wye one time, when I was a teenager, but even then I totally got how cool it was. There are book shops galore, houses have been converted into book shops, the old city wall is even a book shelf, they have books on the floor, on the walls, on the tables, everywhere! It really is a book lover's paradise. There is even a Guardian Hay Festival going on right now.

Anyone out there been to Hay-on-Wye or somewhere similar?

You know, there's a whole travel/memoir book about an American guy who moved his wife and infant son there for a year called Sixpence House! I really enjoyed it. :)

Aths, Staci, FarmLane, Eva--Wouldn't it be fun to have a book blogger's event/gathering in Hay-on-Wye?

Eva--thank you for the tip on the memoir, I'll add it to my TBR list!
