Barbara Kingsolver wins Orange Prize for Fiction

Barbara Kingsovler's The Lacuna has won the Orange Prize for Fiction! I have heard such mixed reviews of this book, but haven't read it myself.

If you have read The Lacuna, what did you think?

Meh. That's what I thought.

I'm not sure how I will find this book either. I'll wait a while before jumping in.

I was very disappointed. I love Barbara Kingsolver's books, but did not like this one at all. I have heard it gets better when she starts the section with Freda Kahlo, but I did not have the patience to stick it out.

I haven't read this yet but I'm not sure if I want to because I've seen so many negative reviews. I might try it eventually though.

Jill, Aths, Elizabeth, Helen--I usually love Kingsolver's books (except Poinsonwood Bible) and I have no desire to read the Lacuna given all the negative reviews I've read. But, the rest of her books, especially Animal Dreams and Prodigal Summer are wonderful!

My review was mixed. There were some amazing moments, and I loved the idea of the novel, but its execution fell flat too much of the time. With such a wonderful writer and subject matter, it shouldn't be boring and dull.

nomadreader--I keep hearing such mixed things with no one loving it. I think I am going to skip it
