Sunday Salon: 5 days off and a stack of books

Yes! It is spring break in our household and I am looking forward to doing not much of anything, but getting a lot done. Does that make sense?

For the first time in my life I have a vacation and nowhere to go. We thought about Chicago, Boston, and Seatttle, but then decided we'd try something closer to home. Then my daughter said she wanted to try skiing so we were going to put that together. Then my ex-husband announced he was going to take her camping in Big Sur, California (a GORGEOUS area if you've never been there). So, our plans went away. She's never been camping (she and I are more the big-city vacationer types), but I think she is going to enjoy it. They are going with another dad and his 2 kids, one of whom is a girl my daughter's age.

All this means that I have 3 days on my own...! Um, not sure what to do with that. Oh yes I am! I am going to go for walks on the beach, read, take care of the dog, and catch up on the little things in life that tend to build up (you know those things that are on your to-do list forever, staring you in the face). I even have some blog-related activities:

  • Go through and re put in all the photos that have gone blank. Here's what happened. I had no idea that when I uploaded photos into my blog that I was putting them in a Picasa account. When I went over to Blogger draft, imagine my surprise. Then I realized I had a HUGE number of duplicate photos and promptly removed all the duplicates. Duh. I removed links on my reviews so now I get to go through and re-do them all.
  • Back up blogs
  • Respond to comments
  • Look through my Google Analytics statistics
  • Read, read, read
And when my daughter gets home Tuesday we'll still have a bunch of days to do fun stuff like seeing hte wildflowers up in the Santa Ynez valley, going to the beach, perhaps a museum, she'll have play dates, etc. And I am sure that life will work its way in there as well (you know, grocery shopping, laundry, etc), but  at least this week I am not doing all that plus my job.

Helen, enjoy your hard earned vacation! I hope you can totally disconnect from school, I am, although it is hard at times. I just had to pass by and let you know how much I like the new blog design. It looks great1 It is so appealing visually and "clean". On top of that you have great content. Congrats!
