GLBT Mini-Challenge

"January's mini-challenge at the Challenge That Dare Not Speak Its Name is a simple one. What we'd love for you to do is take a moment to write a paragraph or two on why this challenge and/or this issue is important to you."

I am not even sure how to answer this. This challenge/issue is important because so many people are against those that are different. Students at my school and people in my life who are Gay, Lesbian, Transgender or bisexual are treated as if they are less by our society. Perhaps by reading and posting about GLBT books and authors the word gets out that we are all after the same things: security, love, happiness, education, freedom, music, friendship, and family. I also hope by posting the reviews at my school, students will know that our library is a "safe place" to be.

I missed this mini challenge. I do have a few books that would fit in nicely. Enjoy!

Diane, this mini-challenge runs all month so you've still got time!

You say you don't know how to answer the question, but you had a wonderful answer. Thanks for participating.

Thank you for that last line. Those kids need that security and I thank you for trying to give it to them.

I agree with Ryan that the last line is wonderful. Students need to know they have that kind of safe haven.
