2009 becomes 2010...

The end of one year and the beginning of another is a time we just cannot resist to reflect and look forward to what we hope comes our way. I am not good at doing resolutions; I only feel guilty when I don't achieve them. So, no more guilt for me!

I borrowed this end-of-the-year layout/idea from Trish at Hey Lady! Whatcha Readin'?, so thanks Trish!

What I’ve Learned (personal):

  • I am slowly getting better at taking things as they come
  • I enjoy having a dog
  • I like reading youth lit A LOT because it's quick, fun, and entertaining
  • Washing ones hands really does help to not get sick

What I’ve Learned (blogging):

  • I enjoy book blogging and the people I am "meeting"
  • I do care about how many followers I have
  • Authors do like to do email interviews
  • It's not as intimidating as I thought it would be

My Favorite Books of 2009

These books are in no particular order.
  • The Guardian (Julius Lester)
  • Thirteen Reasons Why (Jay Asher)
  • Shanghai Girls (Lisa See)
  • When You Reach Me (Rebecca Stead)
  • Debbie Harry Sings in French (Meagan Brothers)
  • Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian (Sherman Alexie)
  • Fly Girl (Sherri Smith)
  • Purple Heart (Patricia McCormick)
  • The Chosen One (Carol Lynch Williams)

My Least Favorite Books of 2009

These books are in no particular order.
  • Angus, Thongs, and Full-frontal Snogging (Louise Rennison)
  • Geeks (Jon Katz)
  • Crazy for the Storm (Norman Ollestad)

Books I’m looking forward to in 2010

  • Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games and Catching Fire
  • Hate List by Brown
  • Trying manga for the first time (though the thought also overwhelms me)
  • Dairy Queen (Murdock)

Blogging Goals for 2010

  • Not worry so much about how many followers I have (this will be REALLY tough for me)
  • Work on posting more than just when I finish a book

Reading stats

  • I read over 44 books in 2009 (I only started taking note of the books I read when I started blogging)
  • Of those 44 books, there were 21 male authors and 23 female authors.
  • Of those 44 books, 31 were fiction and 13 were non-fiction
What were some of your favorite and least favorite books this year? Do you make goals for yourself at the beginning of the year? Did you read more or less than you’d hoped to?

I want to read Hate List, Hunger Games and When You Reach Me. Loved Alexie's book. The Chosen One was my least favorite book of the year.

No stats this year. Couldn't get it together. This year I hope to track better because I'm participating in challenges. Should be better for 2010.

I'm glad we met.

Sheila, J.Kaye, thanks for stopping by!

Color, stats are only a small part of the game for me. I am WAY more into the meat of what we all read :-)
