It was a golf-filled week: Monday was a clinic, Tuesday I played in our usual program (and missed a hole-in-one by one foot!!!!), and Wednesday, a few friends and I played a course about half an hour away. It's the first time I've played golf where I actually had to play my own shots (not scramble/Captain's choice).

Monday night, my in-person book group had a very lively discussion of Yesteryear (link to my review). Whether you like or dislike this book, there is a ton to talk about! We do a potluck dinner, and I made Yesteryear/tradwife influencer references about the food I brought (see image above). Do you know the retail references?

Yesterday we had a celebration of life for my best friend who died last August. It was wonderful to see a small intimate group of her friends and family, to share stories (both emotional and funny) about her, and to be in community. We took her favorite walk and shared memories on a cliff over the ocean.

I listened to a NY Times Daily podcast on Friday called "Finding Hope and Blame--Cuba Under Siege" that was super interesting (and I think you can listen without an account). They interviewed a man who is educated and middle-class as he described a typical day for him. We can hear or read news stories, but hearing one person's story does such a great job of showing what it's really like. I think that's why we all love literature so much.
