- Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth
- Theo of Golden by Allen Levi
It was a good week with golf (one day), dance (three days), a board meeting, work, my virtual book group, a weekend fundraiser/party, and a trip to our local indie bookstore with my dad. I got the above books and a free tote bag (always a bonus).
I may have written about this before, but today is the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear plant meltdown/disaster. I was on my junior year abroad in Vienna at the time, and it was surreal. The family I lived with had to keep their kids out of the sandbox. We traveled to (at the time) Yugoslavia right after it and couldn't eat the fruits, vegetables, or sit on the grass. Upon our return to Austria, we were individually geiger countered to make sure we weren't radioactive. The US doesn't (didn't? Not sure of the current rules) let me give blood because I was within a certain number of miles when it happened.
