Sunday Salon: February 1, 2026

I went to two lovely exhibits at our local art museum last week: The Impressionist Revolution: Monet to Matisse and Encore: 19th Century French Art. It was great to spend an afternoon strolling through the museum, staring at art that I really enjoy.

I have not DNF'd a book in a long time. I read about 60% of Ian McEwan's book and just couldn't go on. His writing is good; the story just didn't work for me. My virtual book group told me I should jump ahead to the second part of the book and skim it since that part is better than first. That might happen. Maybe. I look forward to seeing what my in-person book group thinks of it tomorrow.

Last Sunday, I went to a really interesting dance concert sponsored by our University's Arts and Lectures series: the Compagnie Hervé KOUBI, which was a fusion of street dance, contemporary movement, and martial arts. The choreography got a little repetitive by the end, but I enjoyed it.

Two friends and I had a dinner party Friday night ,and I convinced them to do a listen/read-along of Lonesome Dove. We agreed to read 3 chapters a week, then text about it. It will take us until September, but that's ok. All of you who read it in the past year or so inspired me, so thank you!
