- The Radio Hour by Victoria Purman
- The Widow by John Grisham
- I am, I am, I am by Maggie O'Farrell
I listened to a NYTimes audio on Tuesday where the amazing audiobook narrator Julia Whelan read an article titled "Is Gen X Actually the Greatest Generation?" I really enjoyed the article as it talked through the politics, culture, and experiences of my generation (which originally ran from 1961 to 1981, dates that I prefer since my friends who are slightly older than me certainly aren't Boomers). The thing that came to me at the end is that I am never bored. Yes, I have free time, and there are moments when I have nothing to do. But that does not mean boredom! I feel bad for generations that have come after mine, where they are constantly "entertained" and never get to just sit or create interest for themselves.
Wednesday evening, I got to hear Ocean Vuong speak at our University. He was soooo interesting, thoughtful, wise, smart, aware, observant, and funny; what a great evening! If you ever have the chance to hear him speak, I highly recommend the experience.
On Saturday, I went to a local Christmas market (organized by a high school classmate) that featured beautiful items by local craftspeople. I ended up buying myself a necklace made by the daughter of a friend. Turns out she is a silversmith! I also decorated my house while listening to Christmas carols. Very nice.
