- Memorial Days by Geraldine Brooks
And just like that, Christmas is over, and most of the family has left town. There is always such a build-up, and then, poof, it's done. We all had a lovely few days together with dinners out, lots of laughing, games, and more.
This year, we did Secret Santa with a $30 limit, and I am telling you, this is the way to go when everyone is an adult! It was the perfect way to avoid the stress of Christmas shopping and overspending! My youngest niece loved the goofy lamp I bought her (in the shape of a Highland cow), and my Secret Santa was my oldest niece, who knitted me a scarf (in Griffendor colors, see photo above), and she got me personalized golf balls with a family photo on them (also in a photo above)! My daughter gave me a beautiful purse that perfectly holds everything I need without being large.
I binged the Australian show, Royal Doctor Flying Service, and really enjoyed it! I think they do a great job of creating community with the ensemble cast, the medical storylines, and the relationships among the characters. I also like that the characters are white and Aboriginal, with the Aboriginal culture represented well.
I posted my 2025 reading in review. In the next day or two, I'll post my reading challenge review.
I chose my First Book of 2026, which will be revealed on Book Journey's blog and in my post on January 1. It's kind of a heavy one. I've already started it, but am having trouble getting into it. Will I need to abandon my first book of the year?!
