We've actually had rain this past week, I am so excited (we were at only 8 inches this year, which is half our annual rainfall and we got 9 inches over a few days).
Last Sunday evening turned out to be quite traumatic. A friend's boyfriend (age 64) had a massive heart attack and died! Their Rabbi and I were called immediately for support, comfort, and to help with logistics/processes (sheriff, coroner, calls, etc). I've never seen a dead body before. It was all a lot. His funeral was on Friday. I find events like this really get me thinking about my own life, the lives of loved ones (living and dead), and more. It was a heavy-thinking week.
Yesterday I went to our local "Ready to Hang" art exhibit, which was a good antidote to the sadness. Local artists create all sorts of works that are 12"x12" and ready to hang. There is music, art, food, and a festive atmosphere. And, I bought the piece pictured above, made up of photos looking out from my town to the Channel Islands over the ocean.
Another positive is that both England and Scotland have made the FIFA World Cup. England often makes it in, but Scotland?! Wahooooo!
