Nonfiction November Week 3: 20025

This week's host is Liz (librofulltime.wordpress.com)

Week 3: (November 10 to November 16) – This week, pair up a nonfiction book with a fiction title. Maybe it’s a historical novel and the real history in a nonfiction version, or a memoir and a novel, or a fiction book you’ve read and you would like recommendations for background reading. Or maybe it’s just two books you feel have a link, whatever they might be. You can be as creative as you like!

This month I hope to read the nonfiction partner to a historical fiction novel that I really enjoyed last year when I read it.

Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon (link to my review) is the fictionalized story of a midwife in Maine in the late 1700s and early 1800s. I rated this book 5 stars and still think about it.

I am pairing this novel with The Midwife's Tale: The Life of Martha Ballard, Based on her Diary, 1785-1812, the real midwife portrayed in the novel, to show what life was like for women in that era. I am almost finished with this book so will probably post this week.
