Summary: BENEDICT'S STORY
Sophie Beckett never dreamed she'd be able to sneak into Lady Bridgerton's famed masquerade ball—or that she would be spinning in the arms of her "Prince Charming"—the debonair and devastatingly handsome Benedict Bridgerton. But when the clock strikes midnight, Sophie’s enchanting evening ends. Since that night Benedict has been able to think of nothing but the bewitching young woman, and he’s sworn to find and wed his mystery miss. Yet will another unexpectedly steal his heart—and his chance for a fairy tale love?
Review: I have been watching the Bridgerton TV series and really enjoying it (and, yes, I eagerly await season 4). However, I have never read the books before but took a road trip recently so listened to book 3 (season 4 of the TV series).
I am such a romantic that these stories really work for me. And I appreciated the nod to Cinderella that was present throughout the novel.
If you are familiar with the Bridgerton series (whether books or TV), you'll know that each novel is based on one of the Bridgerton children whose names are in alphabetical order. So, this one centers on Benedict, the second son and artist of the family. He has fewer requirements placed upon him since he is second and not heir, which gives him a bit more freedom to choose whom he wants to marry. However, there are limits. This is England in the early 1800s, class differences are huge with everyone knowing their place in society, and there are proper ways to behave.
I actually find that stuff really interesting and enjoyed seeing a bit of class-bending going on in this novel. I look forward to seeing how Netflix handles this book when the show comes out next year.
