Sunday Salon: March 10, 2024

Deb Nance at Readerbuzz hosts The Sunday Salon.

As usual, I had a busy week. I shouldn't really be surprised anymore, but somehow I am every Sunday.

On Monday my in-person book group met to discuss Geraldine Brooks' novel Horse. All in all a successful read for the group though I think I liked it best. My daughter found a new apartment for next year (this will be move number 3 in 3 years, and I am really hoping this is the last for a while). The location is better and it's WAY cheaper so all in all a win.

Tuesday my UCSB History Associates board sponsored a talk on the role of Queer bookstores in the Gay Liberation Movement. The graduate student who gave the talk did an excellent job and we had about 70 community members in attendance so that was great! I also gave notice that I will not be the President anymore though I will stay on the board. I am someone who feels a real sense of obligation so that was a tough decision for me even though I know it's in my best interest.

Wednesday I had lunch with a friend and former colleague; it was really good to see him and catch up. Thursday I attended a CAbi party where I always spend too much money on clothes, but I have a great time seeing women that I only see twice a year at these gatherings.

Saturday was my usual Farmer's Market and beach/harbor walk with a friend. It was a stunning Santa Barbara day!
Why do I have so many thrillers/mysteries on my TBR shelves and why am I drawn to reading those before all other genres right now?!

Here is is the current state of my 2024 challenges
