Sunday Salon: October 1, 2023

Deb Nance at Readerbuzz hosts The Sunday Salon.

Today is my daughter's 23rd birthday and I am not with her. I wish I were. But, I'll see her later this month so that's great!

My first week of the new job is done and it's been quite a week juggling multiple jobs, but it is doable. It just means more evening and weekend work time. It feels really good to be back working with my old colleagues and friends in a familiar work environment (even though I am in a different department).
Friday night I attended a fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Resource Center in town since a friend paid for a table. Um, the event was black tie and I own NOTHING that gets anywhere near that level of fancy. So, they saw me in something nicer than my every day wear, but not exactly following the dress code. Luckily this is Santa Barbara where dress code is a loose term 🤣

Saturday I had breakfast with a friend I have seen a while and I worked another reunion. Today I am leading a tour of my high school for that same group. They are all 73 years old and it will be fun to listen to them reminiscing.

These are the books I hoped to read in September. I read them all, which is pretty good considering that I started a new job and put on a reunion.

This image shows the books I hope to read in October. It's a group of mysteries and heavier topics, but it is October and the RIP challenge! Have you read any of these? What did you think?

Here is is the current state of my 2023 challenges. At this point, I am counting individual books for multiple categories in each challenge, but I'll replace them with other books throughout the year.
