Sunday Salon: September 24, 2023

Deb Nance at Readerbuzz hosts The Sunday Salon.

What a week! Sunday I had coffee with a long time friend (like 50 years long time), which was really fun. She is high up at LinkedIn so I also got to pick her brain and get her advice about this potential job. Monday I talked with various higher-ups about the possible new/different job at my old company. And... I got the job! What a (financial) relief. It will be nice to be back working with my former colleagues who are still friends. I will be an Ed Tech Trainer so it fits with my teaching background.

Wednesday I represented our Alumni Association at Back to School Night, which is always fun. It's great to talk to parents who are alums and are enjoying having their own children at the school. We're the 3rd oldest school in California so there are many generations of families that have attended.

Friday was part 1 of my 40th high school reunion. After 10 months of planning it is finally happening. We (70 of us!) met for drinks at a local bar/restaurant. It was so great to see people, to just hang out, and catch up.

Saturday was parts 2 and 3. In the morning I led a tour for 50 people of the school including our fancy new stadium and in the evening we had a dinner/dance with over 150 classmates. It was so much fun!

Today we're having a family picnic at the beach.

You know that feeling where you absolutely LOVED an author's book and then you go to read their second (or another) book and you worry it won't live up to the first one? I had that feeling as I began Angeline Boulley's Warrior Girl Unearthed. I am only about 20 pages in and am already fully invested. Whew!

Here is is the current state of my 2023 challenges. At this point, I am counting individual books for multiple categories in each challenge, but I'll replace them with other books throughout the year.
