Sunday Salon: March 20, 2022

Deb Nance at Readerbuzz hosts The Sunday Salon.

This past week was a good one. My brother, his wife, and one of his daughters were here from the UK for a few days and it was fantastic to see them!

I was home through Thursday then took a red-eye flight to New York Thursday night. My daughter and I met up Friday morning, rented a car, and drove 4 hours to Ithaca, NY to check out Cornell University.

Let me back up and have a proud mama moment. My daughter was accepted to both Oxford University and Columbia for an MA, Cornell for a well-funded PhD, and The London School of Economics for a well-funded MSc/MPhil/PhD. Not a bad list to get to choose from! She has narrowed it down to Cornell or LSE so we're here to check out Cornell.

We spent Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning in Ithaca and, while Ithaca is isolated, we found it beautiful (see photos above and appreciate the pun about gorges) and I could see her here for the next 6 years. It has good neighborhoods and a strong department. Now she just has to decide... the two places are so different! I know which place I am partial to, but am trying not to sway her decision.

Today we head to Poughkeepsie, NY to return her to Vassar College and the end of her senior year. Next Sunday I'll report on the first half of my east coast trip in which I visit college friends! I am so excited.

I thought a trip would be a good time to get a lot of reading done, but I realize I was working and traveling so didn't get much read. Oh well, totally worth it to see my daughter!

Here is is the current state of my 2022 challenges. The image is a link to my challenges page.
