Sunday Salon: December 18, 2011

Family and Life:
As you read this I am flying from Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale, Florida then driving to Vero Beach. It actually doesn't matter where I am going, what matters is that we're meeting up with my brother and his family for a few days! We haven't seen them since July and I really miss them (they live in London) so this will be a great few days of family time with no distractions!

My daughter enjoys art and her 6th grade class just did a little unit of study on the Oak Group, a local group of artists who paint the "back country", meaning the Santa Ynez Valley. I think my daughter's came out really well!

Work:
We're on a break! Whoopeeee! And, while I am away, facilities is supposed to be installing a 60" flat screen TV and Apple TV set up in my library for presentations. I am SO excited!

Books and Reading:
I have big plans for reading this week as the year comes to an end. There are 2 plane flights and a couple two-hour car rides so I hope that I get some major reading done. However, I am traveling with my parents and daughter so the chatter level might be high as well, which will make reading virtually impossible.

I am taking my iPad with me so have the following books: Leaving Microsoft to Change the World, Netherland (for one of my book groups), Born to Run (for my other book group); and some pdfs from publishers: A Short History of Africa; Notes to Self; and Ugly to Start With.
