Book Beginnings: Uganda

This meme is hosted by Katy at A Few More Pages

First Kill Your Family: Child Soldiers of Uganda and the Lord's Resistance Army by Peter Eichstaedt is an intense book about the civil war and child soldiers in Uganda. I am reading it to satisfy the final topic for the Social Justice Challenge. In addition, I am starting up this non-profit (we are incorporating today!), Turn the Page Uganda, and wanted to learn more about the civil war that has raged there for over two decades.

"Richard Opio has neither the look of a cold-blooded killer nor the heart of one."

Wow, what a beginning! The next sentence is gruesome, so I have only included the first. I am reading this book on my Kindle, which is always a bit strange since I don't know what page I am on or how many pages are left. But, I have read 35% in so far and it's interesting stuff.

Laurel-Rain--If you think the opener is surprising, the rest of the book is as well. Full of intense stuff!
