Review: Kendra (Coe Booth) (original post 9/6/09)

Coe Booth's Kendra is a good book! It's about Kendra, a high school freshman girl living in New York City, who is dealing with friends, boys, social pressures, her parents and life. What I really liked is that it is realistic, not fluff, not depressing, just real.
Kendra's mom had her when her mom was only 14 years old and so she let Kendra's grandmother raise her. Kendra wants to live with her mom, have a boyfriend, and be an architect or set designer. But, pressures to have sex, fights with girl friends, and family relationships make being 14 trying.
