It's the day before Mother's Day so I thought I'd honor mine by having her be the subject of my Saturday Snapshot. This is July 19, 1965... the day before I was born. I think she looks pretty good!
My mom went into labor, cooked dinner for my dad and his friend, cleaned up (this was the '60s after all) and WALKED to the hospital carrying her own suitcase (my dad was with her, but in a cast up to his hip and on crutches). 3 hours later, out I came! I'm sure I've been just as easy ever since. Or, maybe not.
Perfect for the day before we honor mothers. I got to the hospital ten minutes before my twin daughters were born in 1960 (they turned 51 on Tuesday). My son was bigger, so I was at the hospital two or three hours before he arrived in 1963.

ReplyDeleteBonnie--Awesome way to give birth! My own labor and birth of my daughter were pretty easy as well, thank goodness!

ReplyDeleteGreat snapshot! You can't even tell she's expecting. And to walk to the hospital. She must be made of some sturdy stuff!! Most women today wouldn't do that. Have a great day!

Wow, your mom is an amazing, strong & easy-going woman. It boggles my mind that she walked to the hospital. In this photo she doesn't look pregnant...maybe in a side view she does. Your mom looks relaxed and happy here.
